I read an earlier post on this and I also have a similar situation where I have a room that can be divided into 3 separate rooms and it would be nice if reserving one would automatically block out the other(s).

Sorry, but help me:

when automaticaly ALWAYS blocking 3 rooms, when only 1 room is booked, it can be handeled as 1 room (and write in the summary which one to set up) !?!

If there must be one person decide to block the other ones, make 3 rooms and the person blocks out the other 2.

See 'Post Modifications' in this forum to make a new user class who can do this except the admin.

Ok, maybe I should have been more clear. There is one big room that has movable partitions so it could be three separate rooms. If someone reserves one of the three smaller rooms it blocks out the big room (which is all 3) but doesn't block out the other 2 segments. If someone reserves the big room, the 3 individual rooms would need to be blocked out. It doesn't seem logical but this is based on how we use the rooms.

Thanks

Scott,
this is something ive been meaning to look at for a while, when nick introduced the multiple day booking part of the application that really made me think i better check this out as we also have 2 rooms that can be booked together to make one big room!
at the moment the admins book 1 room, then just blackout the other room. the reason for this is that the chef and table arrangers see both bookings as separate, now its easy to know that they are the same, but if someone books room 1 and 2 for 150 people, each room reservation shows 150 people and also a buffet for that aswell and this could get confusing, our application is slightly different to yours so the code would have to be different in a way, but the idea for having a resource for both rooms is a good idea.
i would think blackout would be the best idea for blocking the rooms, not sure if this could be easily wrote for multiple day bookings maybe nick has some input

cheers

This is something that shouldn't be too difficult.  When creating a resource, you'd also just select it's dependent resources from a list or something.  So that each resource can be booked independently, but if any of the dependent resources are booked, they first have to check if their parent is available or not.

This will be similar to the additional resources feature in 1.2.

Having 2 resources booked at the same time is something that is coming with the extension of additional resources in the next release.
