I got the install to finally start, and i put in my database name and password, which might have been wrong on the initial try.  Either way, now it just goes to a screen that has  the language selection on it and phpScheduleIt v1.2.7 underneath it.  What can I do at this point?

Thanks...

I deleted the entire directory and re-uploaded the entire site just to see if entering the wrong info on that initial screen is what messed me up.  Still did the same thing.

There is only 1 database needed for this script right?  On the first screen when it says to enter your database name and password, this is the same database name that we create and put in our config.php file right?

Thanks!

**EDIT**
I am not sure, but it might be because my database user does not have all the permssions they need like the instructions says to give them.  I've been in mysql for an hour now looking for how to give them those permissions and I just don't see it.  I created the tables using that copy and paste of the text, I think I'm very close but I have no idea why I'm still getting nothing at /install after i put in the database user/pass.  I'm thinking permissions?  Thanks again

This is what mysql looks like...

And this is what I get at my /install directory...

When I put the database and pass it just goes to a screen with the language selection and nothing happens.

Is this on an ISP hosted site, or your own server?

Hi Nick, it's a Virtual Private Server...  VPS.  It's hosted at my ISP though, not my house or anything.

Thanks,
Brian

I'd make sure that the root user has permission to create databases and tables.  If not, either enable that or use the remote host install instructions provided in the install directory.

Where do you give the root user these permissions?  I was looking in mysql and in my cpanel and don't see where to do that.

Thanks

My guess is that cpanel isn't going to allow this.  It will probably be a change needed from the mysql admin command line tools.

If you do have cpanel access and some DB management tool (like phpMyAdmin) from within cpanel, your best bet may be to just use the remote host install instructions.

I do have mysql and phpadmin...  I'm in there right now trying to figure out how to give the database user these permissions.  I put an image above of what my database area looks like.  I just don't see it.  I'll continue to look.  Thanks...

By the way...  I thought I was doing the remote install.  Aren't these those instructions?  I don't understand where to give the permissions like it says to in these instructions...    Thanks

Select the MySQL Databases tool
Add a new user with username and password of your choice. This will be the username and password used in your phpScheduleIt config file.
Create a new database with whatever name you choose. This will be the name of the database in your phpScheduleIt config file. 'phpSchedlueIt' is the recommended database name.
Associate the new user with the new database, giving the user permission to SELECT, CREATE, UPDATE, INSERT and DELETE. Click the 'Add User to Db' button.

I don't see the ability to give user permissions on my cpanel or mysql... where is that done?  I have the latest plesk, php etc...

There should be a tool in cpanel labeled "MySQL Database" or something similar.  Due to security restrictions, you won't be able to create database users through phpMyAdmin.

Hi Nick, it's working now.  I had a tech support lead at my ISP check into this.  Thanks for all your replies.  I know you don't get paid for helping us...

By the way, not sure if it matters, but it says on your main page "phpScheduleIt 1.2.8 is out"  Then it says "click here to download 1.2.7."  Not sure if that's a mistake or I'm missing something.

Thanks again,
Brian
