Sorry, I have been away for a bit.  We are using OpenLDAP.  I know the LDAP is working, cause we have multiple other sites and programs using it.  Still get a warning message.  No error messages except the warning that says no user found basically.  However if you have LDAP working 100%, then it is probably not the code...it's probably the mysql, php versions and shit like that.  I'll research it further.

Okay, I have LDAP working fine now.  Finally resolved the issue.  It was on our end of the LDAP settings.  (Mis information from the LDAP team)  However there appears to be a problem with users and permissions showing up properly.  LDAP users can login, however the admin cannot see the users in the "Manage Users" screen.  I have checked the database, and users that login via LDAP get added to the login table.  The users names show up everywhere else like "Email users" and "Participants", however no groups or user permissions are available.  This forces all users to be regular users and not manageable from the "Manage Users" screen.  Wierd thing is that when I first got LDAP to work, the users were created in the login table, and they showed up the first time.  After I logged out, no one but me (The admin) was on the "Manage Users" screen.  Nick....you probably have a better chance of figuring this one out.  Any ideas?

Fixed this issue by manually deleting all of the user entries, foreign keys, and any user data.  Essentially a relatively fresh install of the database fixed the quirky issues with users.
