With the 2.5 release we've made a lot of changes. The most noticeable change is the new name and update to the look and feel. You can read all about the reasons behind the re-brand as well as get a list of all the new features (there's a lot) here:

what's the right way to upgrade an existing 2.3 to the latest booked? without loosing information of course.

I too am wondering about the migration process. I had quite a time going to 2.4.2 the last time and I'd like to avoid that again.

Going from phpScheduleIt 2.x to Booked is the same as going from 2.1 -> 2.2 (for example). The manual and automatic upgrade processes will continue to work with no data loss.
