I read a lot of other posts with installation errors similar to mine, but none of the solutions suggested there work for me.

I've uploaded my files, modified the config file, but get the following:

Please update the $conf['settings']['script.url'] setting in your config file...

and it proceeds to tell me what the setting should be.

Ironically, what the error message tells me to put for that setting IS EXACTLY what I had in there in the first place!

Suggestions appreciated!

I found that enabling logging (use the xml file in the config directory) helped a lot.  The directions are at the bottom of the install guide.  In my case 2 problems generated the error; database access error and bad permissions on the tpl and tpl_c directories.

SOLVED! (sort of)

Due to personal preference, I had not installed in the root directory.  If I navigate to the folder (directory) above where I installed, that's where this "error" comes up.  (I *thought* in previous installs I've done I simply navigated to the preferred directory and it would automatically go to the ~/Web location...but I guess that's not the case.)  When I navigate directly to  ~/Web or ~/Web/index.php locations, the log-in screen comes up.   Roll Eyes
