Creating new language file?

Hey, just a quick newbie question:
I'd like to use the software with a language (Swedish) that's not currently available in the download pack; is it possible for me to just copy one of the existing language files, translate all the words and sentences, place it in the lang directory and use it as normal? Or is there any extra procedure required? I'll make the translation available here when I'm done, of course!

I am newbie like you but I feel that at least the modification of the class name at line 23 of /phpScheduleIt/lang/<<yourlang>>.php and of the array in /phpScheduleIt/lang/AvailableLanguages.php are needed. I am trying as you but I am facing a strange problem. Once logged in I am always forced to use English language.
Can you confirm if the same issue is with you too, please?

As far as I can tell I can switch between languages okay. I haven't tested all of them, but the three I can read seem to work alright for me. Which language is acting up for you? Or are you using a file of your own?

Anyway, I got my installation up and running now and I've started translation work. I'd love to share the file once it is done, so basically I'm wondering a) what modifications I need to do in other files in order to get a new language file working and b) where I can post the translation?

The language files are all in /lang. You'll want to translate all of the en_us files. If you send me the files when you're done I'll include them in the next release.

I'm pretty much done - studies and whatnot tend to put huge blackout times for me on this front - but I'll send a passable translation within in the week. Sort of a follow up though, hope I'm not just missing something obvious:
We're much more at home with time formats like 19:00 than 7:00PM around here; is it possible to change this format? I've had a look through the files, but I'm still not entirely sure where I should fiddle around.

Yes, you can change this by overriding the time formats in the LoadDates() function.

I was kind of afraid you'd say that... I've already modified that function for the dates (we go dd/mm/Y here) but I'm honestly not clear on what I need to change the given time formats to. Sorry to be a drag.

One last thing that hit me today - I've used å, ä and ö in the translation instead of &aring, &auml and &ouml. Will this work in general, or should I change them? No big deal in that case; find-and-replace functions are a wonderful thing. With these two things the translation is finished and I think it should work for most people. I'll mail it straight away when this is sorted out.

No worries. Instead of lower case g for hours, use upper case G. Also, remove the A (am/pm), since that won't be needed.
