Is it possible to upgrade 2.0 to 2.1 without losing any of the data, is it just a matter of reinstalling it over the original with the same db in the config ?

Hello,
For 2.0 to 2.0.1 there are two approaches to upgrading (described in the readme_installation.html file). Neither will harm your data.
